This is a 24" long, 2" copper shotgun condenser. Inside there are (4) 1/2" copper tubes. It's over-sized, all-copper construction allows a high amount of heat transfer. Because of this, it's well suited to condense the vapors from boilers in the 5500W range. Cooling ports are 1/2" NPT fittings, or those of your own specification.
In older, traditional Appalachian designs, cooling of outgoing vapors was performed by submerging a length of coiled copper tube in water. 'Worm buckets' and 'flake stands' were the namesake of these condensers. Today, the water jacket of a liebig condenser can be easily connected to municipal water services, avoiding the larger footprint of traditional systems. The liebig condenser can then be further improved as a tube-and-shell design, where multiple tubes increase the surface area and dramatically increase cooling capacity.
